Welcome to Whispering Letters
This publication is the child of old and new. We celebrate history in all its forms, letters, old documents, postcards, books, newspapers, magazines, and primary sources that speak to us. The letters being debuted with this issue of Whispering Letters (WL) are real. They were written by real people from 1902 to about 1905. The names of the primary subjects have been changed to protect the innocent. These whispering letters were found during a search for original documents for www.onegreatdate.com. They were purchased from estate auction, but I just could not bring myself to separate them since they have been together for almost 115 years. The letters themselves are not for sale. Someone placed them in the auction because they must not have considered them valuable. We do, not only for their monetary value, but for their window into the past and a time that was different and curiously the same. The value is in the lessons we can learn and the dreams created when we let our imaginations float free. We celebrate the present day and all its newness by defining some unfamiliar terms references and proving information about places, events and things that have survived through the ages. The letters are still being reviewed. Therefore, they will be in sequence, however there may be insertions from time to time as dates are revealed for letters with dates not readily available initially. This issue will also have a “Destination Story” of the path an original post card took. So, settle in an enjoy the whispering words from letters between Edward and Rose. Your imagination will give them voices.
